Spindle Fall Campout is upon us! We have been itchin' for adventure and ready to take ya along!
This trip we'll be starting at Towerhouse Farm Brewery in Gay, Ga. We’ll be mixing in and out of pavement and dirt at an easy breezy 10-12 mph pace, taking in the sites..feeling the wind in our hair for 32ish miles as we head to camp at Sprewell Bluff!
Once we arrive we'll set up camp on our reserved campsites and start our hangs for the day! Set up a hammock or check out the flint river for a little dip! Then we'll meet up back at camp for some dinner provided by Dickeys BBQ (vegan options available!), with some cold drinks to wash it all down!
Day 2 we’ll get packed and throw some breakfast down our gullet then head back to Towerhouse. 30ish miles of biking fun and a winery stop await making it back to our cars at the brewery for a pack-up beer and go away hi fives!
The Adventure:
Meet and Park at Towehouse Brewery..Check-in starting at 8am and ride will depart 9am Saturday, Oct 21st and return Sunday, May 22nd.
There will be stretches of dirt/gravel for day one and day two but mostly a paved ride. Be sure you're well equipped and prepared for various terrains. This will be a HILLY route especially on Day 2. We want each person to complete this ride safely, so make sure you are up to the task. If you feel at any certain point that you cannot make the full trip, you are responsible for arranging emergency pick-up.
New for this year is a gear wagon!! If you do not want to carry all your gear or want to bring some comfort items we got you. Space is very limited! This is not for you to pack everything plus the kitchen sink. Pack as you would a bike tour/backpacking trip. Bag size will be limited to a stadardish size backpack.
The route is on open roads that we will share with vehicle traffic. These are pretty low traffic roads but that does not necessarily mean safer! This area is not used to seeing bikes on the roads so keep your wits about you and listen for call outs for cars and hazards on the roads. We have stops planned between 10 and 15 miles each day for regrouping and refueling. Gas stations/markets are available on route each day.
The Spindle’s aim is to curate a rad cycling experience with a rad group of people enjoying a journey outside of the city. We party roll at 10-12 mph pace to enjoy our surroundings and camaraderie!
